Certifications & Standards

Independent Verification and Clear Standards

Our Perspective

Why Certifications Matter in Sleep Products

Certifications play an important role in helping customers understand how materials are sourced, processed, and evaluated. In an industry where claims can be difficult to verify, independent standards provide an additional layer of accountability by assessing specific materials, components, or manufacturing practices against defined criteria. At Sage Beds, certifications are used to support transparency and informed decision-making. They are not treated as marketing labels, but as one part of a broader commitment to clarity, accuracy, and responsible product development.

Organic Textile Certification

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a leading certification for organic textile fibers. It evaluates organic content and processing standards throughout the textile supply chain, including restrictions on chemical inputs and requirements related to environmental and social responsibility.

GOTS certification helps verify organic cotton content and responsible processing practices where applicable in Sage Beds products.

Organic Latex Certification

Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS)

The Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) applies to organic latex foam materials and evaluates organic content along with certain processing and sourcing criteria.
GOLS certification supports verification of organic latex components used in select Sage Beds products and helps ensure material integrity throughout production.

Material Safety Testing

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 tests finished textile components for harmful substances based on established health-related thresholds. This certification focuses on material safety and helps confirm that textiles meet criteria intended to support safer consumer products.

Indoor Air Quality

eco-INSTITUT® Certification

eco-INSTITUT® evaluates materials for emissions and pollutants relevant to indoor environments. Testing focuses on substances that may affect air quality, making this certification especially relevant for products intended for close, long-term use.

Certifications in Context

Certifications are most meaningful when paired with clear explanations. Rather than relying on labels alone, we aim to provide context around what each standard evaluates and how it applies to specific materials or components within our products.

Ingredient Screening

MADE SAFE® Certified

MADE SAFE® certification evaluates materials and ingredients against a comprehensive list of known harmful substances. Products or components that meet MADE SAFE® criteria are screened for potential risks to human health and the environment.

Emissions Testing

GREENGUARD Gold

GREENGUARD certification focuses on chemical emissions from products used indoors. GREENGUARD Gold standards are among the most stringent, supporting environments such as homes, schools, and healthcare settings where air quality is especially important.

Understanding Scope and Limitations

Understanding Scope and Limitations

Certifications typically apply to individual materials, components, or processes rather than entire finished products in every case. We aim to clearly communicate where certifications apply and avoid overstating their scope. When a product or material does not carry a certification, we disclose that information openly.
